Her fingers look a bit too chunky from certain angles, but it’s nothing major. The pinstripes too are properly painted and the seams are crisp and clean (and where they’re supposed to be). Nothing to complain about the clothes, the shading and sculpt are fantastically done adding more realism to the outfit. The way the fabric stretches against the buttons underlines that the suit is a rather tight fit. It’s almost a bit sad that the lace on her corsage(?) is just painted with no definition in the sculpt, but I get that that would’ve been difficult to do properly. The cleavage this creates is magnificent and the silver necklace dangling down her neck sets a nice accent (also props to Flare for not plastering it to her skin and considering her pose). Since her blouse I unbuttoned we get a very nice view of the lacy lingerie underneath. Sakuya is wearing a black pinstriped ladies’ suit, that hugs her body tightly. Plus, the ribbon’s knot should be more pronounced as the way it is the shading looks way overdone. Speaking of her ponytail there’s a really nasty spot with a lot of small bubbles at the back where one of the hair strands has been glued-in (which looks bad too). Yet I like how her hair is being pulled into her flowing ponytail. Both the sculpt and the shading could’ve been done better as her strands look a bit clunky. Overall, I think her hair looks good, but I feel it’s a bit lacking in definition. I just love the happy expression and all the details/effects in her eyes~♡ On the promo pictures I actually preferred the winking face but now that I have her the open eyes fp is definitely the way to go for me. Getting the glasses to look right can be a bit of a challenge though and imo the winkind fp isn’t really a good choice here as the number of angles it looks good with the glasses is severely limited. One thing I really appreciate as a fellow wearer of glasses is that you don’t just stick them into the bangs or something, but you make her actually “wear” them. Depending on the angle the closed eye may look a little off, but it could be worse. Sakuya’s first faceplate shows us a happy and playful winking expression. Looks like teacher Sakuya is giving us a little service… (♥ω♥ ) ~♪ They look pretty good and have actual glasses in them, though the seam on top is a bit distracting. Her glasses frame has a pretty violet color, similar to the box decorations. Sakuya gets attached to the base via a clear plastic wedge and a metal peg. The wood features a visible grain, which is a nice touch (it’s not sculpted though). The base is a round slap of wooden floor akin to what can be found in classrooms (I suppose). The figure comes in 4 parts: main body, base, exchangeable faceplate and glasses.įlare also included and instruction sheet since exchanging the faceplate can be a little tricky. Just like the box the blister is rather compact but does its job well. Ofc there are also shots of the figure on it (apparently most manufacturers can’t do w/o those…) and honestly… I think they’re quite unnecessary, the box is almost completely see-through, and they disrupt the beautiful design. As usual with these types of boxes there’s also a visible cardboard inlay continuing the design. Sakuya comes in a clear plastic box adorned with violet ornaments looking like lace trims and white flowers (lilies?).
So, let’s skip this part and let’s dive right into it.
I kind of preordered her on a whim because she appealed to me visually, but I don’t know her or the Shining series at all. This time I’ll be taking a look at ITEM #549589 Sakuya from Blade Arcus From Shining EX in her Onna Kyoushi version brought to us by Flare.
